Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, this 10 year old from Aberlour is a Speyside modern.

Nose: Sweet and full. Sherried raisins, hints of toffee and a pleasant nuttiness.

Palate: Quite full-bodied, spicy rich fruitcake, toffee notes and a creamy malty-feel and the vaguest whisper of something akin to synthetic banana.

Finish: Caramel and honey, the malt still evident and the sweet spices still linger.

A wonderfully sherried 15 year old dram from Glenfarclas, boasting oodles of dried fruit notes. It’s bottled at 46% ABV, results in the Speysider boasting a big, juicy, Christmas cake profile. A fabulously complex Scotch while also being easily drinkable.

Nose: Intense, powerful sherry. Cream sherry, certainly – Pedro Ximenez? almost… a touch of peppermint

Palate: Raisins, more sherry, orange peel, walnuts, dates.

Finish: Incredibly long, complex, more of the Walnuts again

A classic Island dram from the Isle of Skye. Aged for a minimum of 10 years in American oak casks. Immensely satisfying stuff, with whiffs of warm peat blending with coastal air, balanced by orchard fruit and juicy barley. A spectacular after dinner dram.

Nose: A fresh and fragrant nose. Through thick, pungent smoke comes sweet pear and apple peels, with pinches of maritime salt from kippers, seaweed.

Palate: It’s a bonfire of peat crackling with black pepper, with a touch of brine and dry barley. A welcome delivery of orchard fruit provides a delicate and beautiful balance.

Finish: In a long finish, bonfire embers toast malt and crystallise a sugary underlay.

A well-balanced, gentle single malt from Speyside. Cardhu 12 is a very well put together malt.

Nose: Good body, decent sweetness, richness. Streaks of smoke, apple peels, bruised pears.

Palate: Smooth, rounded, gentle sweetness, soft peat. A little smoke whispers sweet nothings.

Finish: Long, dry smoke, malty touch of peat.

Nose: Grain. Slightly floral, mineralic. Spirity, orchard fruit, malty, honey. Citrus develops.

Palate: Light, floral, spices. Very smooth.

Finish: Sweet, touch of oak and general fruit, oily.

Nose: Lively, oily, slightly peppery malt. Some creamy Danish Blue balanced by hints of citrus including lime and grapefruit squash.

Palate: Chocolate lime sweets and brandy butter. With water there’s more allspice, dessert wine, barley malt and cured ham.

Finish: Oak, some subtle smoke, green apple skin and more chocolate limes.

Overall: A character-filled no age-statement release named in celebration of Glen Garioch’s co-founders the Manson Brothers. But wait… wouldn’t that make it either “Founders’ Reserve” or “Founders Reserve”?!

Kilchoman’s Machir Bay is an excellent single malt Scotch whisky from the isle of Islay. The distillers use whisky which has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso Sherry butts, resulting in a well-balanced flavour profile, with highlights of vanilla biscuits, light fruit and wafts of warm peat smoke.

Nose: Citrus zests, crumbly vanilla biscuits and layers of elegant peat smoke.

Palate: A generous burst of tropical fruit and dried raisin opens the palate. Warming smoke continues to waft playfully.

Finish: Sherried fruits and sprinkle of cracked black pepper.

Teeling small batchbottled at 46% ABV with no chill filtration, for true, natural character.

An inviting nose where vanilla and spice dance with bright sweet notes of Rum.

The palate has a solid Rum influence that creates a unique smooth, sweet and slightly woody marriage that sparkles on the tongue. Exotic fruit notes push through as well, with a sweet spicy finish complimented by lingering woody undertones.
